“If it weren't for Xtra and The Body Politic (former Pink Triangle magazine) we wouldn't be where we are now: full legal equality, far greater acceptance and awareness of queer people, and a younger generation for whom homophobia is not the default position.” - Matthew Hays, Globe and Mail, 2015
THE ORGANIZATION
Pink Triangle Press (PTP) is Canada’s oldest LGBTQ2S+ media organization with a rich history of impactful and innovative projects spanning over 50 years. Our inaugural publication, The Body Politic, was named one of the 20 most influential magazines of all time by Masthead Magazine. PTP is proud of its impact working with diverse communities to bring about change. Building on our long history of promoting freedom and equality, we continue to bring communities together to create a better world for LGBTQ2S+ people.
PTP is a mission-guided organization, and we achieve our mission through our award-winning journalism and our advocacy projects. We operate an online dating service which we use to fund the important work that we do to champion, celebrate, and inspire LGBTQ2S+ people in Canada and abroad.
This past November, we hosted the PTP Pink Awards, a national event and content series featuring LGBT2S+ changemakers.
We were also proud to release the inaugural PTP Pink Paper this year, highlighting the current state of LGBT2S+ representation on screens in the film, television, streaming and videogame industries. The report marked the first-ever comprehensive look at the entertainment industry in both English and French markets in Canada.
Other recent projects include Pink Ticket Travel, a guide that provides insight on the hottest and most-welcoming destinations around the globe, and productions including documentary Small Town Pride and web series Unnatural Disasters.
We inspire bold ideas and Set Love Free. We are proudly amongst the winners of both the GTA’s Top Employers and Canada’s Top Small and Medium Employers awards for 2024.
